Start a task

Administrators and members.

  • At least one worker is installed. If Chat says “No package is installed”, ask your administrator.
  • Know what the worker may do. Each worker has a page under Workers.
  1. Open the tab Chat.
  2. Choose the worker under Package.
  3. Optional: press the link “N permissions · show” under the worker’s name to see what it may do.
  4. Click into the message box (“Task for this package”) and describe the work in plain words.
  5. Put links (web pages, files on GitHub) directly into the text.
  6. Optional: press Attach to add text files, or drop them on the message box.
  7. Press Send, or press Enter. (Shift+Enter starts a new line.)
  • A card appears for your task. This is one run.
  • The card shows the state, for example “Running in the package sandbox”, and the time it has been running.
  • When the worker is done, the card shows its reply, a result file if there is one, and the files it made.
  • Continue with Follow a run.
Choice What it does When to pick it Can you undo it?
Package Which worker gets the task. The worker made for this kind of work. Yes, before you send.
Attach Adds text files: at most 5 files, each up to 48 KB. Allowed: .md, .txt, .csv, .json, .yaml, .yml, .log. When the worker needs the content of a file. Yes: Remove on the file chip.
Send Starts the run. You can cancel the run, but what the worker already did stays.
New conversation Reloads the worker’s run list. It deletes nothing. When the list looks old. n/a
  • Say what you want as a result: “a list”, “a pull request”, “a one-page summary”.
  • Say where: the repository, the product, or the web page.
  • One task per message. A new message is a new run.
  • Never paste a password or a key. The box refuses it: “This looks like a key or password. It was not sent to the AI.” Ask your administrator to add it under Connections.
  • “This worker is not ready yet. Your admin needs to connect … under Administration > Connections.”: the worker needs a connection. Ask your administrator.
  • A red budget banner: the monthly budget is used up. New tasks start again in the next period or when the budget is raised. Ask your administrator.
  • The Send button is greyed out and a note names the data rule: the worker’s model does not meet the box’s data rule. Ask your administrator.
